Clicky- SAHM or WM?

I'm sure we've done this poll before, but with new people joining us and situations changing (plus I just can't remember) let's do it again.[Poll]

Re: Clicky- SAHM or WM?

  • <-- SS

I substitute right now so my work schedule is very sporadic.  But I haven't worked since Mid February because of the PPD issues. I wanted to get myself in a good place before I went into an unknown classroom.

I'm trying to get a teaching job so hopefully I'll not be SAHM.

  • I said SS because I "work" about 4-8 hours a week. So not even part time, really...but I do work.
  • SS  I work 25 or more hours a week, but I take LO with me.  it's the best of both worlds, but it's the worst of both worlds, too.

That's a nice setup! I had a FB friend post about how she was going back to work - this was 4wks after she had her baby. I messaged her and offered up some encouraging words, she replied that is going to work from home 5-10 hrs a week. After I got done being super jealous, I told her how jealous I was.. LOL.

It is nice! As a nurse, I have really flexible hours. I only go to work when DH will be home.

  • SS- I work 3 nights a week once H gets home from work. So I do SAH most of the time. I wish I didn't have to work at all though.

  • SS - I work part time, but it's on call, so some weeks I'll work as much as 29 hours, and some weeks I won't work at all, like this week. I would rather not work at all, but I'm ok with this set up.

  • Working full time (and then some). I work from 9am to 4pm and then have student organization meetings or teach a class from 6:30pm to 8:30pm M-R. If you're wondering, yes - it sucks as bad as it sounds.

Luckily, DH is student teaching so he's gone from 7am until 3pm. I get up at 6:15am, dress and feed Charlie while DH gets ready and then hand him off in his car seat at 6:45am. Then I go back to sleep until 8am!

Starting in April, DH is done with student teaching and will be a SAHD until we move in the summer. So, the routine will change, but hopefully for the better!

  • For the next 12 weeks I am working 20 hours a week, then I will be working full time for 2.5 months until we move, and then I will be a SAHM indefinitely!  Can't wait :)

Wow what a schedule!  At least there's light at the end of the tunnel.  Do you know where you're moving yet?

Nope! I've applied to jobs everywhere between NY and FL, so somewhere in there. The universities I'm most excited about are in SC and GA though, so hopefully one of those!! I should find out in the next month!

This exactly. I work 3 12-hour shifts a week, 7p-7a. It's full-time. Dh and I switch with LO so she doesnt have to go to DC or anything. It's a pretty good set-up except sometimes I just want to come home and sleep and I can't unless LO is napping. I don't do 3 nights in a row for this reason.

  • I chose SS. I'm on mat leave until January 2012 then going back to work at that time. So.. I think it'd be considered SAHM until then?
