We aren't telling anybody the sex or name of our little one to be, but we want some opinions, so cyber-space to the rescue! What do folks think of Rylan for a boy? We're not worried about the sound - we like how it flows with our two last names (being used as middle & last), but we are a little wary that it might be too uncommon. We like the idea of a name that won't show up in every classroom, but want something recognizable enough that it won't elicit questions.
Also
a little concerned that it may sound childish for an adult, or that
it's a little too feminine - will people know he's a boy?
Thoughts?
thanks in advance!
(p.s. thank you for earlier responses. we only deleted that post to change user name)
Re: Opinions on Rylan, take 2
Huh?
It sounds like a made-up name or that you cannot spell Ryan correctly.
I also cannot imagine a Judge Rylan or a Chief Surgeon Rylan.

I do not think it ages well and I know two little girls with this name. It is a big fat for me.
My nephew is Rylan. I love him, but the name is not really my style.
Really dislike. I love the name Ryan, but Rylan just doesn't come off as a very strong name at all. It doesn't age well, it's not very masculine, and it doesn't come off as very sophisticated.
I almost like it... until I try to imagine that cute kid Rylan as an adult.
This is what I said in my original response. Entirely too trendy and feminine for my taste. I would think it was a girl.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
nope you arent
hate it
Agree w/ pp: trendy, feminine, yuck.

It's at the top of my gag-inducing name list.
It's trendy, feminine, and a mobile home company. Ryan is SUCH a better, strong, masculine name.
There's a cute boy in DD's daycare named Rylann and it just doesn't suit him at all.
