DD has never taken a bottle. I am now trying to get her to take a sippy cup so I can have a little bit more freedom. She isn't too into solids though we are slowly getting better. And she won't drink from her cup. I have soft spouts, hard spouts, I've tried regular cups, straws (not the sippys with a straw, just a real straw) and she wants nothing to do with it. I've tried putting milk, water and water with a dash of juice for sweetness. If she gets any in her mouth she isn't interested, but she doesn't full out suck either....I don't know how to teach her that she can suck and that it's good...
Did anyone have an avid nurser/bottle refuser who was having issues with a sippy and how did you help? I'm 9months in, she sleeps horrendously, I'm drained from nursing and I can't even let LO with Nana to go out with my husband and not fret about getting home in three hours.
Sorry it turned into a vent. Thanks for any advice!
Re: Transitioning Breast feeder to Sippy
We went through this, the only difference was that my son did drink pumped milk from a bottle with breast shaped nipples before. What worked for us was the Nuk silicone spout. It was easier for him to control the flow and he had to work a little harder for it than some of the other nipples (e.g. Nuby, Avent)
Also, a friend of mind had an exclusive breast feeder who took to drinking from a sports bottle.
I think sippies are like bottles in that you do have to try a few brands to find one that works. Good luck!
