Anyone give their baby goats milk? I EBF right now and am thinkging of weaning at 12 months at least partially. Does anyone have any info. on goats milk they would like to share?
My younger sister was on goat's milk for a few years since she had a dairy intollerance. Apparently the goat's milk didn't bother her like cow's did. I've been looking into this too as DS also has a dairy intollerance. BUT I also know that goat's mild doesn't have the fat content that they should be getting at 1 year...
SIL put her kid who was sensitive to cows milk on goats milk and she did great
The fat globules in goat milk are smaller than the globules in cows milk, this makes it easier to digest so it should be a bit of an easier transition from breastmilk to goat milk.
I will warn you though it can be pricey, unless you know a farmer, half gallon jugs can cost about $9. maybe more.
I am definitely thinking of it. Wanted to talk to our pedi about it at our next visit in a few weeks. As PP said, I have been told they digest the protein in goat's milk easier than cow's milk, so it is easier on their digestive system.
