Gah! Medicines?

I posted something yesterday about Theraflu on the 2nd tri board but didn't get any replies so I wanted to ask again...

I've heard Theraflu is BAD during pregnancy, per the pharmacist and also online stuff. HOWEVER, it IS on my list of approved meds if you get the flu/cough/cold (which I have. uggggggh.). Is it totally bad if I take it? I'm nervous but I'm in sooo much pain!

Re: Gah! Medicines?

  • If you feel like you really need it, and will help you go for it. It's not like you'll be on it the rest of the pregnancy.

I have to occasionally use an inhaler for my asthma, which is not technically "safe", but I also need to be breathing.

  • If you are really concerned call up the nurse line or your doctor and ask how much is approved to take per day.  They'll be able to help you better.

  • So, I had the most massive colds the first weeks of Jan and Feb and I just had to tough it out because Sudafed knocked me out and made me feel worse and Tylenol didnt work. If it's on your approved list, then you're probably fine to take it, but if it were me, I'd just wait it out. You'll feel better in a few days...PROMISE!!! Meanwhile, increase your tea intake (I was drinking mint tea with honey and lemon), water intake, and sleep!!! Feel better!
