clomid challenge - anyone?

Has anyone done the Clomid challenge before? I am a little nervous. The RE wants to do this as a beginning step to measure my FSH and response to the drugs (I guess?). She also says that it should assist the whole ovulation process. I ovulate on my own, but she said this might help the luteal phase as well.  

She said to call if I experience vision problems. Has anyone had anything out of the ordinary happen with clomid?

I never did the Clomid challenge, but I've been taking Clomid with my IUI's (I ovulate fine, it's standard treatment for unexplained IF--increase the number of eggs with each cycle and hope one does what it is supposed to). I don't really have any physical side effects from Clomid. I do have some trouble concentrating, and have had three really good screaming matches with DH for no good reason other than he annoyed me. I blame the Clomid for that.

It didn't do a thing for my LP, despite the fact that I had 2 follies with the first round, and 4 with the second.

Thanks for the warning!  I'll be sure and tell my S/O that I may become somewhat *itchy.  He'll be glad to know - he already likes to track my cycles to better understand my mood swings.

I never did the clomid challenge. My understanding was that the clomid challenge was more of a "antiquated" test that isn't necessary now.  AMH is a newer test that measures ovarian reserve so you wouldn't really learn anything new by doing the clomid challenge. What was your FSH and estrogen on CD3? Why does your doc want to do to CC?

I took clomid for 1 cycle. I really hated it.  I had ridiculous hot flashes for 3 weeks. After experiencing that I have a whole new respect for any woman in menopause!

ETA: just saw your FSH in your siggy. Was your AMH tested??

Thanks for the info. I didn't do an AMH yet, but I will ask her about that soon. Hmmm...

FSH was btwn. 8.4-10.2. Estradiol <50

She expressed some concern for the FSH, but did an Antral Follicle Count today that was normal.

I am not exactly sure why she wants to do the Clomid, but she did express that it might help with my overall cycle problems. 

If I don't like it I will definitely express this. Hot flashes - that's ridiculous.

I took Clomid for 5 cycles. The only s/e I had was being really thirsty. Then on round 5 I got really emotional.  I was sad, it was a horrible feeling. I ovulate on my own as well. Just make sure the RE monitors you closely with u/s.

They didn't have me do a Clomid challenge.  Ditto those that have had hot flashes on Clomid.  I have pretty mild ones (maybe 2-3/Clomid cycle), but they will get your attention if they happen.  My luteal phase does seem a bit better - no spotting and is now a more "normal" 14 days instead of 11-12.

Initally with the  OB -he perscribed Clomid for three cycles and then an additional 1. After the wasted year I got a refferal to the RE he did testing and had me do the Clomid challenge....He said it was because He could trust his own results and not other Dr's. I really questioned this additional Clomid use however He is the professional so I did it.

I didn't mind the Clomid, but had lots of hotflashes and night sweats.
