Pregnant after 35

Insurance question

Hello ladies.  I am cautiously saying hello.  I'm a second-time mommy-to-be at age 42.  I've had two previous losses so I am keeping things on the down low for a while but I have been lurking around here.

I was just wondering what kind of genetic testing your insurance has covered especially for those of you over 40.  I am still waiting to hear back from my insurance company but I've decided I'd like to have CVS testing done.  I would rather just go ahead and have more conclusive answers.  I appreciate your responses and look forward to meeting all of you.

Re: Insurance question

  • My insurance company covered all the tests... I did have a 53 dollar balance to pay for the amnio, but that's a very expensive test, so relatively small balance on my side :)

  • My insurance treated all my tests the same way they did everything else -- 20% copay.

I had a quad screen and an amnio, which included a level 2 ultrasound and the FISH.

  • I only had the NT scan and it was completely covered.  My doctor thought that the CVS would be completely covered as well because I was 35 or over.

    Good luck!
