Cycle cancelled - I don't believe this

I am so flippin frustrated right now. Looks like I have to skip this month because of all things, I am ovulating early.

Last month I took Clomid on days 5-9. This month my RE wanted me to take it days 3-7. He didn't think it would make a difference, but apparently it did. I normally O on day 17 or 18 so my RE scheduled my monitoring u/s on day 15. From there, he would tell me when to trigger and then schedule the IUI.

Today is day 13 and I was kind feeling crampy today, like pre-O pains. So tonight, I took an OPK just to check, and there it was...smiling back at me. Looks like I will be ovulating tomorrow and my donor sperm won't be here until Thursday. FAIL,

Now I am just trying to decide if I want to cancel my appointment for Thursday or try to get in tomorrow to see what the follicle situation is in there. I just can't seem to justify the cost of the u/s and office visit though.

The only reason I would consider it is because last month was my left ovary and I would really like to see if this month was my right and what size the follicles were. My right ovary has a history of producing bigger follicles than my left.

I don't think I can justify the cost though. Now I have to get up tomorrow morning and try to cancel my donor sperm shipment so I don't waste the $200. The bad thing is that I JUST ordered it about an hour before I took the test. If I had just tested earlier today I could have had it shipped to arrive tomorrow.

I am so flippin frustrated. I can't believe I have to wait another month now.

    I am so sorry. That really plain sucks.

    Sometimes I've noticed that I get an OPK + and then my temp doesn't rise until 2 or 3 days later. Could there be a chance that you could schedule your IUI for early Thurs. and cross fingers that you actually ovulate closer to that time? What time does your donor sperm arrive on Thurs.?

    I know that's a long shot, but thought I'd throw it out there. Of course, you know your body best.

    I thought about trying to chance it but I wasn't testing so I have no idea if my LH surge started this morning (probably) or this evening. I will probably ovulate tomorrow mid-day.

    Working with donor sperm is so hard. It is only good in the nitrogen tank for 7 days so I can't have it shipped too early. It's a wierd balance. This happened back on my first try in October. And the the following month, I didn't O until day 20.

    I'm convinced it is all a crapshoot anyway.

    I'm sorry.  Would you be able to talk to your dr's office before you cancel the shipment?  Maybe they have a different take on this?  I really hope you're not out this month.  But, we are completely Oop, so I absolutely understand having to justify the cost.

    ok, that sucks.

    i'm sorry ... but i wouldn't totally give up hope for this cycle ... maybe you can get into the docs office today and they can tell you whether you should cancel the sperm ...

    either way it kinda bites, i'm sorry.  this stuff is not for the weak.  but neither is parenting, so we will just be better prepped when it happens (or at least that's what i tell myself)

    Oh Melle, this just stinks. I don't even know what to say. This is what happened to me last month (ie ovulating early). But I don't have the donor sperm issue so it wasn't a complete bust. You would think the doctor would have scheduled you for an early follicle check since he started your meds up a few days earlier. I feel like the doctor is supposedly the "expert" and should have seen this coming. I don't know if you would do this but can you ask them to waive the u/s fee since they basically screwed this up?  You might be able to save the cycle if the u/s or bloodwork shows you can hold out until Thursday for the sperm to arrive. I totally get not wanting to waste the $.

     You poor girl. Last month it was sperm lost by Fedex...Hugs:-)

    I made the decision to cancel the cycle. I only have 2 vials left and I don't want to waste it. My RE wanted me to come in today for an u/s, but I declined. i don't want to waste the money and haviong the u/s won't change anything.

    My RE called me and asked me to go ahead and keep my appointment for tomorrow (at no charge) so he can take a look and see what is going on in there. Even though I am ovulating today, they should still be able to tell how many follicles were left behind and the approximate size.

    That is the right thing for them to do. Glad to hear this because it tells me they recognize that you should have been checked earlier!   I know this isn't much of a brightside but at least you didn't shell out big bucks for follistim this cycle...

    My sister put it best - she said this is the one time I need to be striving for perfection. Anything less than perfection is not worth the gamble.

    Big picture - this is just a small set-back and I really shouldn't start worrying yet. HOWEVER, I am anxious and ready for this to happen. My patience is running thin.

    My RE asked for a longer appointment for tomorrow so we can have time to sit down and chat.

    I would go in, tell the Dr. what happened and they could run some b/w. Are you sure you ovulate 24 hrs after your surge? I know the norm is 24-36.

    I can't be sure when my surge started. I had a -OPK on Monday night and a + on Tuesday night. Not sure when it started though, and I am usually about 24 hours. i can pretty much feel it right now.

    It wouldn't be that big of a deal if I had a sperm source in Dallas, but it has to be shipped in which makes scheduling a challenge.

    This sucks.....sorry to here about this setback.  Wishing you all the best-hope that next cycle will be better for you.
    TTC since 10/09 Me-43 DH-44 RE and testing 10/10-11/10, Recommending IVF 1/11 New RE AMA and DOR-DH low motility IVF #1.1 cancelled 3/11 due to poor response IVF #1.2 May 2011, one perfect 8-cell embryo, 3dt-BFN, IVF #2.1 Converted to IUI d/t poor response. New RE 9/2011. IVF 2.2 completed using HGH,EPP,DHEA, Q-10 and accupuncture. Transferred one 8-cell, grade one embryo on 10/19. BFP 10/31/11 Chemical pregancy on 11/2/11. Started stims for IVF #3, our final try, on 12-2-11. ET on 12/18. Transferred 3 Grade A embryos-BFFN Planning DE IVF, late March/early April- Donors ER expected to be 4/2-4/4. PAIF/SAIF welcome
