My LO is usually REALLY active after dinner, so much so that kick counts have become pointless (usually 10 kicks in less than 2-5 minutes).
Tonight it has taken over an hour to get 10 kicks/pushes/nudges and they are all a lot softer than normal. I've laid on my side and drank a glass of water.
Is this just the end stage of pregnancy? Or do I need to call my doctor?
Re: slowing LO--kick counts
it depends on how many kicks ur doctor wants. mine says as long as its 10-12 w/in 2 hours not to call.
try drinking some juice to wake him up
ice cream does the trick for my LO.
NYPeach - posting under my old Knot name (different computer).
I had this happen about a week ago, the nurse told me she just wanted 4 movements in a hour. She also told me to drink a glass of juice and get off my feet for an hour, then count. If after that you haven't felt 4+ I would give them a call.
Call your OB if you are concerned. Movement should not slow down - baby might have just changed sleep patterns.
I agree that you should drink/eat something sweet/sugary and lie down.
Good luck!
LO tried to scare me last night and today like this. I had an appt. today and they hooked me up to the monitor. He freaked out and kicked the crap out of me. But it turns out I'm having some contractions that I'm not feeling, and right before or after one his movements are very light- as my ute is clenching/un-clenching.
But I would def. call the doc if you are concerned. Better to be safe than sorry
My m/w told me that she would rather receive 100 calls about movement that turn out to be okay than have me wait to call one time when I was worried and it not be okay. If you are concerned, call.
I can tell you that I did this during week 30. Had a scary day, called, went in for monitoring, all was well and I felt a little silly, but also felt much better. The nurses and m/w did not act as if I was being ridiculous so that helped.
Best of luck.
eta: I just saw your update. Glad to hear that everything seems to be back to normal.
