Parking for Smithsonian during the week

I've never been to the Smithsonian during the work day...always been to the mall after work hours or the weekend once street parking and garages open up. I'm thinking about taking DD to the Natural History during the week and would prefer to drive then metro. Would I have trouble finding parking in a garage during the work day?

    The closest garage is at 12th and D SE. About a 2 block walk to the mall. Since there are a bunch of office buildings around it may be tricky to park before noon (afternoon should be much easier). It's also not always terrible to find spots on the mall.
