Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Called Pedi re: Spit up

They think he is over eating and to try giving him 4oz every 3-4hours. Does this sound right for a BF baby???

It's so hard to get past 2 hours because he screams..but I am trying to get his attention elsewhere to hold him off..

Re: Called Pedi re: Spit up

  • Why are you trying to hold off on feeding him? If he is hungry, feed him. That will definitely help your problem if he is spitting up due to overeating. My DS is just now starting to be able to go longer than 2 hours between feedings and he's ff!

  • Wow.  If he's acting hungry after 2 hours - he needs to eat. Feed the damn kid. Graham is 2 1/2 months and still goes every 2 hours between most daytime feedings.

As far as the spit up goes, DSs is a happy spitter and spits up all the time. Pedi said as long as he is gaining weight and the spitting up doesn't bother him, it's not a problem. I can't believe your would tell you to feed him less often. That's not going to help the spitting up.

  • I thought smaller, more frequent meals was the way to go...?

  • Sorry, I just realized that your pedi is the one that suggests you hold off. That is the dumbest advice ever! My DS spits up if he eats a lot in one feeding, so our pedi suggested to feed him smaller amounts more often.

Some babies are spitters and there isn't much you can do about it. Just do what you think is right. Your baby doesn't know that there is this magical schedule out there that he should be following.
