Baby Names

does it go together?

Does this name go with our last name???

Sirius Stewart

DH thinks it would be weird, even though we both love the name he doesn't like it with our last name?

Re: does it go together?

  • I think it's ok...not the best, but not the worst either. If you love the name, and don't think you could possibly love another name more, then go ahead. If it's just on the "maybe" list, I'd ditch it.

  • Siriusly?  Sorry had to do it.  I think it runs together too much with your last name.

  • I love the name (huge Harry Potter fan and that's what it makes me think of) but I don't think it's the best flow with your last name.  It's not detestable, though.

  • I'm also meh on it.  It isn't horrible, but I think that there is a better combo out there.

  • Sirius to me is satellite radio. That aside, I think it's a little matchy

I think it's kind of cool! DH and I have considered both Lyra and Luna (for a girl). And in that Jodi Picoult book "My Sister's Keeper" the main character is named Andromeda, but called Anna.

And I don't think it's so bad with Stewart. My first name and maiden name are alliterative like that and it never bothered me.

  • Sirius is ok, but the Stewart keeps calling to mind images of the MadTV skit.

"Now Stewart, what does mommy say..."

  • I don't think alliteration is bad, but I might go for a less obvious Harry Potter reference, like Oliver or Seamus.
