Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Is your LO mobile yet?

If so, how do they get around? It never occurred to me that DD would not crawl and would use another method even though I had heard that alot of babies don't crawl and either go straight to walking or something else.

DD started "scooting" on her bum about 2 weeks ago and the past few days, she's getting alot faster and will go alot further too so its nice to finally see her getting around but now she's getting into everything!! lol I have to watch her every move! I do love it though = )

  • Little DD crawls, and now she's doing a sort of scoot/hop when she sits on her knees.Β  Big DD crawled, but always kept one leg tucked underneath and just pushed with her other leg.

My uncle was a scooter,Β one of DH'sΒ niece's rolled and his otherΒ niece was a commando crawler.Β  When babies are ready to move, they will find a way.

  • DD2 started walking at nine months, so that's how she gets around now. Both my girls crawled before walking.

We have friends who have a 13-month-old boy who still gets around by scooting on his butt. His mom says he can crawl but prefers scooting since it's faster for him. It's pretty funny to watch!

  • DS has been a roller for about 6 weeks - he could cover pretty much the entire living room by rolling and pivoting on his belly.Β  And then in the last week, he just started crawling.

  • We've got a walker, or rather a tumbler.Β  DD tries to run head first wherever she'd going.

  • No mobility yet here, but I think that I see scooting in her future rather than crawling. Rignt now she is just content to play with what is in her reach. And if nothing in in her reach she is content to play with her socks rather than move :)
  • LO walks. He was crawling at 6 months.

  • DS started walking just before he hit 9 months (still wasn't crawling at that point)Β but still isn't doing more than walking a few steps to get to and from toys/people (not just walking all over the house).Β  He spends most of his day cruising and then walking when he can't reach.Β  He did start crawling out of the blue at a little over 9 months.Β  So, sometimes he'll drop down and crawl aroundΒ a little but cruising is his favorite mode of transportation.

This exactly, minus the scooting part.

Thanks! I had seen your video of Aubrey with her push walker and was looking at buying one so we went out and bought one for Hannah last week = ) She's still trying to get the hang of it! lolΒ
