Today in my fourth period my students were asking/pleading for me not to go on maternity leave (one cute kiddo said that I could just bring the baby to class and no one would notice), but obviously they are old enough (ninth grade) to understand that it couldn't happen. Another student asked what I had to get done before I could leave and I mentioned that I'd been trying to get everything done after school for the past few weeks, but I was getting too tired to finish some of the more physical jobs.
This afternoon, nine students from my classes (I guess the word spread past 4th period) showed up after school and completed my ENTIRE "to do" list for this week in less than an hour! They scrubbed the desks, climbed up high and put up posters, cleaned out cupboards, dusted, organized, etc.
I cried. Ninth graders do have a heart...
Re: AW: LOVE them
That just made me cry! I had certain teachers I would do ANYTHING for, so it's nice to know that there are other kids that would, too.
P.S. You must be an AWESOME teacher

That is AMAZING
I hope when my kids start school they have a teacher they love as much as your kids love you!!!
That is sooo sweet! You must be an amazing teacher. We need more just like you.
Mac and cheese lover!
You must be a great teacher! 9th graders tend to be so self centered but these kids seem to really get it. In cases like this I would send the parents a Thank You card just to let them know that their kids are comapssionate and thoughtful.
