Pregnant with twins and don't know where to start!

I'm delighted but overwhelmed. These will be our first children, and I don't even know how to pick the best stroller-car seat contraption or any other things! My gal pals will surely help me pick out things for babies...but I know so few with twins - none that are under 5, anyway! Where does one start? Any advice on books, magazines, websites, etc. that really write for the twin mommy? I feel like an idiot!

  • I totally agree!  We're in it together - I look forward to the questions you'll ask cause I need to learn a lot!  Hopefully I ask good questions, too!

Just yesterday we were talking about carseats.  We already had one picked out with our last pregnancy that ended in m/c.  So, at dinner, I made a comment about that and our neighbor said "you'll need two in case I ever have to get the baby".  We said, ah, well, we will get two bases and be able to have one base in her car.  And then today..."you're having twins"...so, um, yeah, we really DO need two!  To say I'm feeling overwhelmed would be the understatement of the year.  Thankfully, it's only March - cause I'm sure I'm just barely touching on the whelmed (in either direction) bit...

I will gladly take this blessing!

  • Welcome and congratulations!  I think everyone is overwhelmed when they find out they are having multiples!  I have learned so much just lurking on this board - you'll be a twin pro in no time.  A couple of regulars on here have made great lists for twin registries that are a great help, and strollers are a constant topic of conversation.

    You'll get it figured out!

  • First off, CONGRATS! Secondly, I'm in the same boat as you are. We just found out last week that we are having twins and I don't think the shock has quite worn off yet. I know the moms on this board will offer great advice though so hang around and we'll navigate this together!

  • Congrats!  When i was pregnant with my twins, i did a lot of reading, research online and online chatting (like this) for support.  I also joined a local moms of multiples group.  I took advantage of asking questions to "experts".  Afterall, who better to get advice from than moms who have been there?
  • Congrats on your twins!  I have to admit I have been lurking more than anything on this board only because I am scared due to my past.  I feel once I make it to my 2nd Trimester I can get excited and start asking questions.  In the meantime I am being a sponge and already learning so much from the wonderful ladies on this board.  I admire all of them. • Books: When you're expeting twins, triplets or quads (I lived by it!!)

Stroller really depends on your liking. I have a Foundations Duo and love it.

Website: I registered at both BabiesRUS and Stuff4Multiples.com.

Best investment (for me) was the TwinTrexx Twin Baby Carrier.

I hope this helps. Don't stress!!! ((hugs)))
