Take DS to the Dr or not

Ugh, I just dont know.  Friday he was coughing pretty bad, I figured I would be calling the Dr Saturday morning.  When he got up Saturday, he had a few coughs but nothing like Friday, so I didn't call the Dr.  Then Saturday night he started coughing again but it didnt last and he went all night with no coughing!  Then today, his cough is clearly breaking up but he's gotten sick 3 times from coughing and choking/gagging on the phlegm.  Its not like actual puke (has no scent) and is just watery and mucus.  He's complained of his throat hurting a little after coughing, doesnt want to eat much (dont know if its because his throat hurts or just because he doesnt feel great) and now he has a slight fever.  

Its all been so back and forth I just dont know what to do.
