Safe to go to shooting range?

My husband and some friends are going to do target practice tomorrow and of course I was invited. I didnt think anything of it until my girl friend who is a medical assistant asked me if it was safe. Is it? My H was instantly thinking it had to do with the lead in the bullets. If there is any chance of this being a safety issue I am going to opt out.. Thoughts?

I believe the issue is not the bullets, it is the noise.  I've been told (though this is anecdotal, so I'm not sure if it is scientifically true) that because sound travels better through solids and liquids than through air, that the amniotic fluid can actually serve as a bit of an amplifier and make loud noises worse.  And while you will be wearing ear plugs and/or noise canceling headphones, the baby can't.  That said, a lot of people go to loud concerts during pregnancy as well and they're kids are fine.  So I have no idea what to tell you.  I'd call your doctor on this one.

I stopped going to the shooting range when I found out I was pregnant. I havent asked Dr's advice so dont have any major reason to back it up, but I figure I can wait.

I asked my doctor at my 16 week appointment and she said that I could go until I was 20 weeks. I don't feel comfortable going anymore so I don't, but it's up to you.

I haven't gone shooting since being pregnant, but I did attempt to go to a concert at about 15 or 16 weeks and it was not a good idea for me.  Once the band started with the drums, I got a strong feeling of nausea.  I left because I figured I shouldn't be there.  I am not sure if this would happen to you, but you should talk to your doc.  Oh geez, the caved life of a pregnant woman!!!

Yes.. I am going to skip on this hobby until after the baby. Looks like mamas getting a pedicure instead!

That's interesting, I am a hunter and am planning on going turkey hunting in April...looks like I'll be talking to my doctor about that next week. With that it's only one shot though (hopefully!)
