Who knew makeup was such a hornet's nest? (vent)

I asked on Fbook about foundation recommendations (some of you were so kind to respond, thanks!) as a general "what do you like" poll hoping to get a number of responses.  Apparently my sister is humiliated that I didn't ask her first because she apparently knows so much about makeup and it's "embarrassing" that I didn't ask her opinion only because all our mutual friends are supposedly now thinking "gee, why didn't she ask her sister's opinion about this?"  WTF???  So then of course my mom has to get involved and then ramps it up- she brings up that apparently a friend of mine "tattled" to her that I'd made a (frustrated joke) status about selling Charlie to the Gypsies once when she was having a terrible night.  As if I wouldn't die for her a million times over or put up with a million horrible nights for her.

So great.  The first night my folks are here and it turns into a giant fight.  And they're staying here.  Fvck.

I don't get how these are even things to fight about!  Sheesh.  I'm so sorry, Shane!  That really sucks.  Let me know when they leave and I'll bring over a bottle of wine...or let me know if you need an excuse to get away while they're still visiting.  I can call you with an emergency.

I'm so sorry S!  That is really ridiculous!  You're sister is totally overreacting.  Even if she is a derm or MUA, there is no reason you can't ask for a general consensus.  You want me to dress up like a gypsy and come knock on your door while your parents are here?  Might be fun!

Lame!  And I saw your gypsy post and couldn't stop laughing!  My grandma used to tell my sister and I if we weren't good for grandma the gypsies would come and get us!  She would also threaten that the bunnies would come get us too so we knew she was kidding and we would squeal and laugh and forget to be naughty. 

I think everyone knows you love your Charlie more than anything in this world and were just making a joke to help vent your exhaustion. Well, at least I did : )  Sometimes FB can just turn into a huge pain in the a$$.

Mom and I stayed up late to eventually patch most of it up.  I'm still annoyed with my sis, though.  And C has been awful and is awake now...ugh.  Blech.  Thanks for the support.

Thats unbelievable! I have had my  family share of stupid family drama but this one on makeup takes the case!

The gypsy comment reminds me of something my sister told me the other day.  She said she saw a female comedian who was talking about parenting.  The comedian said that before she was a parent, she used to think, "Brittney Spears is such a moron.  She got her children taken away."  Now that she has kids, she thinks, "Brittney Spears is a genius!  She got her children taken away!"  I laughed WAY too hard when I heard that.

My family can be drama-tastic at times, too.  I've managed to stay clear of it for the last few years because I don't give them the satisfaction of a reaction.  People know better than to try to stir up drama with me.  I just don't react.  If you're looking for advice, that's what I would recommend.  Don't apologize to your sister, because you have nothing to apologize for.  Don't try to explain the gypsy comment to your mom, because it doesn't need an explanation.  They want a reaction, and if you don't give it to them, they'll go away.  Not reacting at all is the best way to put a stop to drama.
