Last night dd's fever spiked to 105 but went down after a bath and some ibuprofen. Everything seemed okay, but as we were getting ready for bed her fever started climbing back up. Had a rough night with not a lot of sleep and dd alternating in between crying that she was burning up and crying that she was freezing.
Went to the doctor this morning and the office is an hour away from home. By the time we got there she was totally fine- temperature was normal, she was happy, playing, and talking to the doctor. Urine was clean, strep and influenza tests were fine. Decided that the fever/vomiting was just a virus that is unrelated to the urinary issues. As far as that is concerned, the doctor thinks she has a little yeast infection and that's causing her urine to sting. As for the frequency of urination and the 10-12 accidents a day that she's been having she (the doctor) suspects that she's having bladder spasms. I guess it's just a developmental thing and dd can't control it at all. The doctor gave her a prescription of ditropan to try and said it could take a few months for her to outgrow this.
So we left the doctor thinking everything was okay. The regular way home was backed up with construction and dd was asleep in her carseat so I decided to take the long, scenic way home to avoid traffic. Mistake, I guess. We got into the middle of nowhere and she started vomiting again. Took us over two hours to get home because I had to keep stopping. She threw up six times on the drive: our car is covered in vomit, the carseat, her clothes, our jackets and coats, everything.
So, now we're home and waiting for a call back from the doctor again. I'm hoping that she'll call in a prescription for some sort of anti-nausea medication for her.
Thanks to those of you who were thinking about us.

Oh no!
I'm glad it is just a virus but what a nightmare for you. Hope she's much better soon.
Don't you hate when they're "fine" at the doctor's, then get sick again as soon as you leave?! DS had a 103 fever (second fever ever at 4 1/2 years old) and DH took him in. He was running around fine at the office and sick again as soon as they got home.
Hope she feels better!
I hope it is just a virus, but really sounds like some sort of an infection. My boss recently had similar symptoms (fever, vomiting), minus the accidents and it turned out she had kidney stones and a kidney infection.
I hope she feels better soon.
My three little ones
yea something doesn't sound right to me. Although my kids just had that random vomiting thing so I guess it could be that! Hope she's better soon. Keep us posted!
Fever does not = virus. At least in my non-medically schooled opinion!
I really feel like there is something else going on. I know her pee is coming back clean but something just seems off.
I'm so sorry both of you are dealing with this. (((HUGS)))
