So, I have a fb friend who was battling breast cancer (she's only 35!) and she somewhat recently went into remission (yay!). She started having bladder issues and they were really afraid that the cancer may have spread. She went in to be examined and an u/s didn't find cancer...but rather a healthy baby about 6 months along! Doctors had told her that her treatments would make a pregnancy impossible. And while she did have pg symptoms (weight gain, nausea, lack of a period...) those are also side effects of the chemo/cancer drugs so she thought nothing of it. Total surprise miracle baby!

Re: a little heartwarming story to lift the spirits
At 6 months with my first baby (I was 37) I could have been a teenager in denial. I had only put on 13-15 lbs and my belly wasn't that outrageous.
The kicking would have been hard to ignore thoough.
ETA: I had a friend who delivered at 31 weeks. She did not look pregnant at.all. When she and her husband arrived to L&D at the hospital, the nurses looked around for the pregnant lady. She had to repeat herself several times "I am the patient, I am the one who is pregnant". She is 5'7" and 120 soaking wet on a heavy day. Very thin. Nobody would ever suspect she was pregnant.
I never believed the "I didn't know I was pregnant!" stories until I know TWO people...know them personally, who didn't find out until halfway through their pregnancy.
DH's cousin delivered at 27 weeks and didn't know she was pregnant until she was rushed to the hospital. She is very average body type..definately not overweight, but not a waif thin model either. Size 10ish maybe?? Got super sick, the emergicare didn't diagnose the pregnancy for 3 hours either. (and her OB had done an internal and prescribed more birth control for her 2 months before she delivered). She's middle aged, in a healthy relationship, no need to hide it, yet it wasn't until the emergicare figured it out, and she had to be lifeflighted to the hospital that she knew.
#2 is a friend. She and her husband started trying last spring, she took several pregnancy tests and they all came back negative. She missed 3 periods..and in that time took another test or two, still negative. Finally, she was freaking out about her missed periods, called her doc, who did a blood test and sure enough she was 18 weeks pregnant.
Anyways, I think it can happen to some people!
And I LOVE the story!
I am close to six feet and never ever looked truly pregnant, i delivered DD at 34 weeks and was in the NICU the next day trying to convince the nurses that I was the MOm because there was no visiable belly left. I was 145 pre pregnancy so never heavy just really tall with a long torso and lots of room for baby.
Good for her, that is amazing!
Wow!
I am tall too and at 6 months with my first, I didn't look pregnant. Fuller, but I still had a flatish stomach. I was undeniably round at 40 weeks though!
Good for her!
