This one feels like it rising in popularity in certain circles. I know 2 IRL. Didn't know any at all 5 years ago, except for a minor character (played by Jodie Foster) in the movie "Perfume."
I love the look of it, as well as the sound. I've started looking into more french names since we discovered that my dad's side of the family actually comes from France, not England like we always thought. Great name!
Re: pulled off of CNN...
I likey... ::blushes::
but, I'm also a fan of Melody. They both shamefully rhyme with my LN, so I'd be a terrible mom for using them. Think Julia Gulia...
I read somewhere that Elodie is quite popular in Canada not unlike Ella is here in the US. I think it is pretty!
I'm amazed you haven't heard this name before. With the onslaught of Ellie names, this one is definitely cropping up.
It's a French name, and I think it's lovely: https://www.behindthename.com/name/e10lodie.

I live in Canada and I've never heard of this name. Although I've met probably 5 or 6 people who have children named Ella.
