I don't care for Penelope, too me it sounds very child-like. I have a hard time imagining a 30 yr old named Penelope:) However, my top girl name is Annie...which seems to be thought of as a nn for a child rather than a formal name. If you love it, go for it:) GL!!
It's the Rae that holds me back. It seems like an invitation to shorten it to Penny Rae which gives me a completely different impression. It might just be me though.
I love Penelope, but don't like Rae with it. It just doesn't seem like they fit together (and Rae is my middle name). I have a Penelope Jane. We also considered Grace and June for the middle names. My mom calls her Penny Jane a lot.
I love it! I love the name Penelope and the nn Penny and I would use it for ours but i don't think it goes well with our kind of long last name. I also like Rae. We are using Rae for a middle name if we have a girl. We are naming her Susanna Rae.
I guess because I'm from the south, I always associate the middle name Rae as being country. Maybe it's a Texas thing, I dunno. I love Penelope, just not crazy about Rae.
In Greece, people named Penelope are called Popi (sounds like the flower, Poppy) as a nn. If I ever have another girl she will be Penelope "Poppy" Ruth... Love the name...
