DDs have always been neck & neck in their weights since birth. Since over the past month or so though, one DD is considerably lighter and seems to be eating less and less.
She's a picky eater--only eats yogurt, fruit, and blueberry mini waffles (odd, I know, but hey--she's eating that at least). Other DD eats anything and everything we give her.
At last pedi appt at 15 mo., DD was in the 13th perecentile for her weight and now I feel like it's even lower...
What should I do?? I worry now every day of why she doesn't eat well and I try to feed her a wide variety of foods in hopes she'll like something. She's otherwise healthy and hasn't had any illnesses that I would assume decrease her appetite...
Any tips??? Thanks!
Re: anyone else' s toddler barely eat?
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
I HATE meal time. I'm constantly worried about the food they take in...They like yougort, kraft dinner, grilled cheese, oatmeal and fruits, although on some days they will refuse to eat certain things they like....they like chicken nuggets with ketchup and sometimes potatoes with gravey...I find if I add a little something extra sometimes they'll take it more than not having anything on it.
I'm guessing it's a phase...they use to like almost anything and everything. I'm not sure if this would help, but if the boys are having an off day sometimes I'll sit in the rocker and just try to get their attention to come and have a bite and feed them that way, I'm not a big fan of it and I'dr rather have them in their chair, but it works...or when we eat supper they'll want to come on our laps and they want our food some we'll give them some bites
My mother took the boys two weekends ago and commented on how they looked like that had lost weight...so I'm not looking forward to finding out their weight which is probably still 20 lbs.
I've given this toddler eating thing a lot thought and here is my theory...toddlers don't require a lot calories and it really makes sense evolutionarily speaking that they don't eat much. Imagine if our hunting and gathering ancestors had 2 year olds that did nothing but ate all the food? They would abandon them. I know, I need a life.
We also went through the blueberry waffle phase and thank goodness it's over, I can't even look at them anymore.
