Cloth Diapering

How to test for repelling?

Do you squirt some water on your inserts and diapers to check if they are repelling? And then throw them in the dryer to dry if they are not and store them for stripping if they are?

  • Take a small cup of water and pour slowly over the diaper. If it rolls off that is one way to check. You can also just check to see if the insert is wet(when it is leaking on LO) or not if its a pocket.

  • I've heard that the rolling water test isn't accurate, since compression of the baby is part of what pushes water through to the insert.  If it is a pocket, you can check the inserts to see if they are saturated when you see leaks.
