why do i listen to people!

today a friend and i were talking about babies and heart rates and all the gender tales that go along with it..then She asks me what the baby's heart rate was. Well, my last ultrasound I was 6wks 4 days pregnant and at that time the heart rate was 120. the u/s tech told me that anything over 100 was normal. Well, after I told my friend the heart rate, her responce..."OH MY GOSH!!! thats soo low! I have never heard of a baby with a heart rate so slow! " SERIOUSLY!!!!! WHO SAYS THIS!! I dont get another u/s till 20 weeks and im a but paranoid now. I was at the dr Monday and I dont go back till april 11th! can someone please make me feel better

Don't pay any attention to her. Your baby's heartrate is just fine!

that's totally normal for that early.  my u/s at 6 weeks it was around 90 at first.  then they kept trying and got it at 127.  then at 8 weeks it was 180 and today was almost 160.  seriously, don't listen to her.  it doesn't beat as fast when it just starts beating (around 6 weeks) and it will vary from week to week as you go along too.

You're friend is being a douche. The heart rate was excellent for that stage. I had my first u/s at 6 weeks. The heart rate was in the low 100s. At 7.5 weeks and 11.5 weeks, it was in the 160s. It is so low starting out because it literally just started beating.

Totally normal...I couldn't hear the heartbeat until 9 weeks, so at least you got to hear it.   My Pregnancy Bible said that is a very normal range too, and something that really made me feel good when I was only weeks 5 through 12 in the first trimester:  once a heartbeat is heard, only 1% of pregnancies miscarry thereafter.  Made me feel so amazing when we were in those uncertain weeks.

Everything is fine...I swear sometimes friends like to do that to us, I have a few of those!

You are fine! My baby's HR at 6 weeks was 127 and at 12 weeks was 170.   Next time she says something, tell her you don't take advice from stupid people!

Anything over 100 is fine.  At my first appointment at 6w my baby also had a heart rate of 123.  This past appointment at 12w the heart rate had increased to 167.  Its normal to be low.  Tell your friend to zip it.
