DH is dead set on Lauren Olivia (neither of which were on his name list) because he likes how they flow together. I like the name also I just never pictured our daughter being named Lauren. It screams 80's to me. I'm trying to come up with great name combinations to present to him to see if he likes another one even better! TIA
our other names are: Brynn, Grace, Tessa, Julie, and Mallory
Re: Lauren Olivia and other middle name help?!
breastfeeding, cloth diapering, farming mama.
Way too close to Laurence Olivier for my taste.
this exactly! I immediately thought that.
I live under a rock, apparently...who is Laurence Olivier? I mean it sounds vaguely familiar, but never would my mind have gone there from the name Lauren Olivia (plus, it's so rare that you are actually going to just use her first/middle names together and apart from the last name). I actually really like Lauren Olivia (even better than Lauren Anne, which is what we are naming our daughter...Anne is my mom's name though, and was my middle name before marriage, so we definitely wanted to use it to give her name some significance). Lauren flows really well with our last name, and that's the most important for day-to-day.
Funny enough, my husband came up with Lauren, and it has really grown on me. While I do have friends named Lauren that were born in the 80's, I also know several little girls named Lauren recently. I can't see your alternatives now while I'm typing, but several of those sounded more "80's" to me than Lauren.
Wow. How does that happen?
I kept trying to figure out WHY Lauren Olivia sounded so strangely familiar lol. Then I remembered Laurence Olivier.
DD #2 is Lauren Olivia so i LOVE it
we get a ton of compliments on her name.
& i had no idea who that guy was until my grandpa (who just turned 78) mentioned it. i really dont see how his name matters anyway.... but good luck!

I wouldn't call Laurence Olivier a "random actor." He was probably one of the top 10 actors of all time.
If neither name was on his list, here's my theory of what happened:
He heard the names Lauren and Olivia somewhere (maybe a sibset), and liked the way they flowed next to each other. They just seemed like they belong together.
He probably doesn't realize that the reason he thinks it flows so well is because he's heard it a thousand times (Laurence Olivier).
For PP who isn't familiar with the name, Olivier is pronounced o-LIV-ee-ay.
I think compared to your other names, Lauren is the best, and the least 80s sounding. Minus Grace, which isn't 80s, but so overused.
How about Lauren with another middle name, like Brooke or Elizabeth?
