A few weeks ago, Aubree got RSV. She kicked it pretty well and I was surprised because of all the stories I have heard of how bad it can be. Well last Wednesday she got another cold (the perks of daycare). She had her 4 month shots on Tuesday. She was checked out and at that point it was still just a cold.
Last night she woke up crying inconsolably for a while (not typical of her). Daycare called me today to tell me she was "off" and crying (like she was the night before). I called the doctor to see if it could be related to the shots and she said probably not, but maybe the cold turned into an ear infection. I almost decided not to take her because it really didn't seem like an ear infection.
Anyways, the doctor listened to her and said she was wheezing a little. They took her blood oxygen level reading and it was a 94 (not good). They gave her a breathing treatment in the office and it brought it up to 97. Apparently, the RSV left her pretty susceptible to any respiratory cold (for the next 6 months), so that's why she was having a hard time shaking this cold. She also had a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia, which looked okay.
We now have nebulizer equipment and have to do breathing treatments every 4-8 hours. She will be fine, but jeez, RSV is a b!tch!
No point to this, just wanted to share.
