Or is shopping for maternity clothes a little overwhelming.
I don't have the slightest idea where to start. I've gone into Motherhood Maternity twice, and walked out with nothing both times. It freaks me out. I think I need my mommy to go with me.

Hahah I actually did have my mom go with me last weekend. DH had no desire to spend an hour in a maternity store and my mom seemed excited about it. It was nice to have input and someone to run and get me other sizes to try w/o having to be harassed by the workers.

Nope. Not just you, I'm having the same problem. I went to Motherhood today bought 1 pair of work pants, JP Penny and got 1 Pair of jeans. And picked up 2 tanktops from Old Navy. And I'm not really fully satisfied with any of it, but can't get into any of my current pants!
I had to go today to get a pair of work pants... There is only one pair of mine that still fits. Went to jcpenny and got a pair. It kind of sucked, they didn't have much to choose from, but I had a gift card.

I have to say, it seems like slim pickin's this time around. I remember seeing lots of stuff I liked when I was pg with DD, but now I'm not really finding anything I'm crazy about.
I'm at the point where if I want to go somewhere even remotely nice, I MUST buy some mat clothes. Unfortunately, even with West Edmonton Mall super close, I can't find any. My options seem to be Motherhood, and Wal-Mart. Neither has the best selection.
And I have no idea what I even really need. I don't leave the house much so pajamas and sweats work fine most of the time, but I miss wearing jeans. And most of my shirts don't fit anymore, they're too short.

I just got home from Kohls...talk about ugly. It's like they assume if you're pregnant, you must be 80. I walked out and swore not to freak out until I've looked at Old Navy and Motherhood. Argh, this is not a fun in between time.
I agree, although I just feel like I dont belong. I walk in there and I feel out of place because all you see are women with large bumps compared to my little bump!

I think that's part of my problem too. On top of the whole not having much to choose from here. We don't have Khol's or Old Navy maternity, or H&M maternity.
And I don't have a credit card so I can't shop online. Boo.

My mom went with me at about 10 weeks (I got so much bloat early on I couldn't wear anything). We hit up the clearence rack at Motherhood and got a ton of great summer stuff for cheap (Since I'll be spending most of my ultra pregnant months in the heat). I just picked up a few basics, a couple cute dresses (that i can wear sweaters over now), some tops, some camis, a couple pairs of jeans. Nothing major. I can sitll wear some of my pre-pregnancy stuff, tops mostly since I tended to preferr loose cut and long tops.

Honestly, it costs more, but find a Thyme ... way better than MM. At least for a few staples. I remember feeling the same way in MM, Thyme at least gave me some hope, although it hurt the wallet.

I've bought some empire waist shirts and dresses at ForeverXXI. Their clothes are cheap, and they'll totally work for me for the next few months. Maternity clothes are soo expensive and I find most of them to be somewhat hideous. But yeah, right now I'm doing all of my shopping at FXXI and A Pea in the Pod.
I went into Motherhood Maternity & didn't leave with anything other than cocoa butter lotion; I wasn't crazy about the clothes.
I've ordered some things from Gap maternity (watch for their frequent 25% online sales) & also Old Navy maternity. My fave item was a pair of maternity jeans from Gap maternity--they will not fit past the 2nd tri but they are great for this transitional point. https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=42867&vid=1&pid=761868
Do you have Destination Maternity? I know it's technically the same company but I found their service to be much better than Motherhood Maternity. They brought my mom and I drinks and explained how the sizing works and the store layout and everything. I could have spent $500 in there easily but I exercised a bit of self-control and just got some basics.
How about kids consignment shops? All the ones around here have maternity sections. I've got about half my maternity clothes there. It's all been cute name-brand stuff.
I know there is a Thyme in West Ed. I just haven't been able to track it down yet... Maybe next weekend. I'll definetly try XXI, but I find alot of their stuff doesn't fit me when I'm at my skinniest...
I had thought of thrift stores, but not consignment shops.. I'll look into it
Thanks for all the suggestions

We're actually making a girls night out of it. My mother & sister and I are going to dinner and then shopping. I've been looking forward to seeing them both but dreading the thought of trying on stuff and walking out with nothing.
I'll keep you posted. Good luck to the rest of you.

My mom is taking me shopping this weekend for maternity clothes too. I bought a pair of cargo pants, jeans and long, loose fitting tops from Target's maternity section. It was cheap and I've gotten compliments on the shirts and the pants are really comfortable. I also got a pair of pants from my friend who got them at Motherhood Maternity and they're really comfortable. I'm planning to go to Gap and Pea in the Pod this weekend. Good luck to all the shoppers!

My mom bought me maternity clothes yesterday. I don't need them right now, but when I do, I'll be prepared!
It's the first grandkid so mom is spoiling me and the future baby.

Also got this & it looks very stylish on, with lots of room to grow: https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=42867&vid=1&pid=777930
