Did you do anything special to tell work?

Re: Did you do anything special to tell work?

  • Ummm....no.

    I said "I'm pregnant"

  • Nope.  I'm already showing so I sat my boss down and told her.  We just lost a person in our department and she's very stressed out and I wanted to reassure her that I'd be working up to my due date unless there are unforeseen circumstances that prevent it and coming back after maternity leave, as well as working from home during that time.
  • No.  I don't really think they care enough or that I'm vested enough to go all out for them!
  • Emmasmom, you're already showing??
  • With my boss, I didn't. I just told her. With my immediate team that I work very closely with, I gave them a puzzle to put together during a training that I was leading (I told them the puzzle had to do with the training but when they put it together it said I was pregnant). I'm telling the rest of my dept tomorrow and am bringing in cupcakes to a training and decorating them with mini baby bottles that I bought at Michael's. Overkill? Probably, but its fun and I work with all women!

Yup, from what I hear, it's not uncommon with your second. Especially when it's 2 under 2.

I'm sure most of it is bloat though. At least I hope it is!

  • For my boss I just took her aside and told her and then she suprised me and said she is too! I already knew another women on my team is so that gave us the grand total of 3 out of 7 being pregnant. So to tell the rest of the team that my boss and I were pregnant she started the meeting by saying that we have something serious to discuss, she went on to say that no one should drink the water or they will develop symtoms like Jess, amy and her. Well they already knew that Jess was pregnant so they just had to figure it out and they were all very suprised!!
  • Sorry...I'm lurking out of complete boredom at work today. :)

I didn't do anything special to tell my co-workers that I was pg, but I did make cupcakes with little blue pacifiers on them (got the pacis at Party City) when we found out it was a boy.

  • Yeah...no.  I plan on saying "I'm pregnant."  He's into efficient & effective forms of communication.  I doubt my CEO would appreciate a bib & pee stick tied up with a baby blue ribbon.
  • Lol, Blair.  Do they make bibs that say "I love my mommy's boss"?  If so, I may rethink not making a big deal about it at work.

God, that is awesome.  I hope they do.  I can just see my CEO's face when I hand him a bib & something I peed on.  I'll totally get a raise after that.

  • Make sure to gift wrap it really cute!
  • I was talking about the baby to 2 coworkers, one of the main partners walks in, and grabbed my u/s pic so he wouldn't see. Then I said "Hey Mike, guess what, I have a secret" and he smiled and said "Oh I think I already know". That was that. Gossip did the rest for me!
  • Dh and I work for the same company, so we will announce it a little differently than most . . .

  • No, I'm dreading telling my boss. I just started a new job and I don't think she likes me very much :(

"thanks for hiring me, I needed the benefits, i'm pregnant" How does that sound? LOL
