Feeling Nesty?

So, I think I'm going to learn to sew. I have this very strong urge. I have been browsing etsy.com and am feeling very crafty. My mother laughed and says this is because I am nesting, but luckily she agreed to teach me.

Anyone else have the whole nesting thing going on? If so, are you going to try anything new?

I've been strangely motivated to clean my house every Saturday.  I normally do all the deep-cleaning on the weekends, but I hate it and ususally procrastinate as long as possible.  For the past few months, I've been up by 8 on Saturday cleaning the house from top to bottom.  Crazy!

 Have fun learning to sew!  I bought a sewing maching back in the fall and I love it!  My first project was making curtains for our 12 ft. windows in our family room.  They turned out great and saved me a ton of money over what it would have cost for custom curtains.

I've been working (a little at a time) on sorting through some of our old crap to make room for baby stuff in the house.  Does that count?  It's like a project or two a weekend right now - clear out a dresser here or a closet there and figure out what clothes can be donated and what crap can be thrown out.

I've also been thinking that it's time to break my sewing machine out again because there are a few projects that need doing (new pillow covers for the living room throw pillows, curtains for the living room and baby's room, etc.).

Oh, and I have a few furniture projects queued up to get done.  They involve moving heavy furniture and sanding/painting/staining, so I'm just planning to supervise DH and my dad making those happen.

I would *love* to learn to sew for the baby, but I've tried sewing before, and I'm crap at it.  But I am starting to feel a little nesty.  I normally don't mind the house looking a little "lived in," but now I look around and feel like I need to clean everything to perfection right now.  I do also plan on doing some crafty things for the baby's room.  I can't sew, but I'm really good with paper crafts.

I feel like my nesting instinct is starting to kick in, but my "lay on the couch and nap" instinct is still far stronger.

I am usually a house cleaner and organizer all the time.... but so far I have been so tired I havent been able to do half the cleaning I usually do! I feel absolutly terrible that we are living in such a mess... it took me 3 days to unload the dishwasher the other day!! I am feeling the urge to trash a whole lot of things.... hard to say for me really... we alredy have the crib and stroller set up in the baby room but the guest bed and old esk and dresser still need to come out and the paint still needs to go up lol... it will be a busy summer!!! Thank goodness I am taking my maternity leave 2 months early!!!

I'm definitely feeling nestier than I used to.  Lots more cleaning, and lotttts of organizing random cabinets/closets, etc.

I've also been dying to learn how to sew for almost a year now.  I have a lady who is willing to teach me, and I have a nice sewing machine that my aunt gave me before she passed away.  I just have to find the time....

Since becoming pregnant, I've learned to make more meals because I was craving them or hadn't had them in a while... 

Also, my mom has been sewing with me since i was about 14, so I'm going to finally give in and learn to sew for the diaper bags, crib bedding, curtains, hamper bin, storage hanger,etc. It's really fun and if you have someone to teach you, even better!

I've always been a little "nesty" - I like to clean, knit, crochet, sew, etc.  It's gone in to a bit of hyperdrive - partially because I have a lot of knitting projects I want to finish before baby is born. 

 As a funny side note, I remember very clearly when my mom was pregnant with my youngest brother (I was nine), and I came home from school and found my mom sitting on the floor in the middle of the kitchen with every single item from the cabinets sitting around her while she tried to organize.  I was really confused, so my dad said, "oh, you're mom is just nesting - you wanna go get ice cream?".  I found it very strange.

I've decided to take up a few artsy/crafty projects. One being that I am going to make my own "month old" onesies. I see people post pics of their babies in them on FB all the time and never thought the onesies were cute enough, so I'm all over making my own. (who knows how they will turn out however : )

Other than that, I've been organizing and cleaning and re-decorating a few rooms. This is partly due to the fact that my social life did a 360 and I have no idea what to do with myself now that I'm not out drinking 3 times a week. LOL

I want to learn to sew too.  I asked for a sewing machine for Christmas and recieved one.  But now I just need to learn how actually use it.

I am already thinking of ways to organize the house better   I can't wait to get home from this work trip tomorrow so I can start this weekend now that I am starting to feel better.

What will your first project be? I am thinking new curtains for my bathroom. Its a fairly small window and if I mess up, it won't be something people will see all the time

I have been on an organization rampage! My poor H thinks I've gone off the deep end. In his mind we have "plenty of time" before we have to start getting the baby's room in order. I can't help feeling like we are already running out of time

I do want to get crafty with some baby onesies after we have our anatomy scan!
