green poop ?

DS has had runny yellow poop all day (not the usual) but his last diaper was actually green. Anyones DC have this? Is he sick? maybe just something I ate? TIA!

Re: green poop ?

  • Are you breastfeeding? My DS gets bright green poop when I eat lots of dairy. I think it's pretty normal though.

  • Our doctor said green poop is when food goes through them really fast.

  • Dd had this, too. She is EBF. This can happen when dc is drinking more of the foremilk and less of the hindmilk. Pedi said it's not anything to worry about, but to make sure dc is hungry before just nursing him/her. Some babies just like to nurse often, thus, drinking the foremilk, and then getting full before the hindmilk lets down.
  • I BF and every now and then DD has green poops.  It seems to happen when I eat a lot of dairy.
  • I was told by ped it could be a couple of things.. my diet, his diet (he is getting to much fore milk instead of hind milk) and/or illness.  DC turned out to be fight a cold (and still is).  It took him 24 hours to show other symtoms such as a very runny nose and coughing.  I hope that helps

  • Thanks! I hope he's not getting sick. He has been unusually fussy all day and has pooped through about 7 diapers already! Sad
