Any thoughts on making this easy? Evie is SO attached to her binky, but it's time for her to let it go. I've been dreading it because I know it's going to break her heart. Any thoguhts on how to make it easier? We've been limiting it to bedtime/naptime use (although she usually manages to sneak them out of her bed).
Re: Ditching the binky
When I was a nanny, we snipped or poked tiny holes in all of the binkies. Then you can still offer it to her or let her sneak it, but it deflates when she uses it. It's not satisfying any more. But you don't actively take it away, so you don't feel like quite as much of a bad guy when she's a little frustrated for a while.
Just one idea.

We just got rid of Holden's last week. Cold turkey was the best option for us and it sucked for about 2 days, and the first night he cried for about 45 min before falling asleep, but then he got over it (thank God!) He does still ask for it about once a day though, but its getting much better! Good luck! We were really worried because Holden was SUPER attached to his binkies, but it wasnt nearly as bad as we had expected.
Is she really into princesses or fairies? Make believe?
With my niece we had to be really creative for binks and sippy cups. She LOVES magic, fairies, and princesses.
We told her that all the little baby fairies could not sleep because they are so upset. They really needed some binks and sippys to help them. We took a pink pillowcase and got her all excited to send all the binks and sippys to the baby fairies. She piled them all into the pillowcase, and we helped tie a huge ribbon on it.
When she woke up the next morning, there was a new princess dress, and fairy wings in the pillowcase, and no binks. She never mentioned them after that.
Here is my blog entry on how we did it. It worked!

You really cut off the tips, literally! :-) Glad to hear it worked. It was a similar experience getting the little boy to drop the binky when I was nannying.

I think this is the way we're going to go. It seems like it will be the easiest on Evie.
Thanks, ladies!
We did the pacifier fairy- packed them all up in a bag, hung it in a tree- couple of hours later- checked and there was a shopping cart for her play kitchen! It also included a letter from the pacifier fairy about how proud she was and how glad for the binkies to give to the babies in the hospital.
Though at bedtime that night, she cried and asked to give the cart back in order to get her pacis. It sucked for 3 nights- then never looked back.
