She finally did it...

DD#1 declared "oh sh*t" today right in front of super duper religious MIL.  It was only a matter of time.  We are trying to ignore her new words to the best of our ability in hopes that they go away.  Oh and mommy is trying to watch her potty mouth.

  • When Ben did it, I said "you mean "oh shoot"?? is that what you meant??" and corrected him til he starte3d to say "oh shoot" instead of "oh ***."  I never correct pronunciation otherwise, but with the few swears that have happened, I either corrected them, or else said "what did you say?  I dont' know what that means" and tried to get him to stop by pretending he didn't make any sense.

  • MIL was quite shocked.  DH explained that we are trying not to make a big deal out of it.  In the end he was dreading this day much more than I.  He hates to disappoint his mom.  And while I love my MIL, we are both adults and respects our decisions so I don't worry like he does.

Personally I think she sounds kind of cute saying it in her little voice.  It is hard not to giggle :)

  • Hahaha! I can't imagine D getting too upset or judgmental about it. Just hope that it isn't Hayden's first word!

BTW, I think that Jill has some great advice!
