c-section mamas (if you've had more than one) please come in

If you've had more than one c-section was it harder the 2nd time around? What was different about the surgery and what was different about your recovery? I had a c/s with dd and am trying to weigh my options as far as rsc vs. vbac. tia for the info.

  • both of mine were easy recoveries but the second surgery itself was harder (lots of scar tissue, and they had to separate my bladder from my ute, so it took a long time) but the recovery from #2 was easier.  for me, it was a 55 hour labor vs 12...less stress on the body.

ftr, I tried to vbac and even though it didn't work, I'm glad I tried.

  • My 2nd c-section was much easier. I didn't even take the pain killers after the first day just Motrin. I couldn't believe how much easier it was ( I am thinking because there was no labor this time.)

I am hoping for the 3rd one to be just as easy.

  • 2nd c-section was a bit longer because of scar tissue but no complications during surgery. I did end up having an infection on the surgery site - recovery was longer and harder because of it. My 3rd c-section went very smooth, just a little more time in OR. Recovery for my 3rd was great, no problems.

  • For me, there was a mixture of anxiety because I knew what to expect but also a sense of peace in knowing what to expect-if that makes any sense? It was quite a different experience with #2 as #1 was an emergency c/s after hours of labor. Recovery with #2 was much easier as well. Its a little bit more diffiult to recover with little ones, so we'll have to talk to the kids about that I guess. I'll always wonder what it would be like to have a vaginal birth, but I've talked to some of my friends who have never had a c/s. They have had had to have some reconstructive surgeries, and my Mom has also mentioned some of the challenges later on in life that may have been due to the stress of child birth. Its a hot-topic with many people, I'm sure you'll make the decision that is best for you. Good luck to you with your decision!

  • My previous 3 c-section recoveries were easy... I'm hoping I'll be as lucky this time around :)

  • I've only had 1 but I'm really hoping my repeat c recovery is easier.  My first recovery was really difficult, but I think 22+ hours of labor and almost 3 hours of pushing contributed to the rough time I had afterward.
