s/o Hockey Moms

I live on the Canadian border and everyone here plays hockey.  DS may get into it- he is 3 now and there are pee-wee leagues and its sort of the thing to do.  If he expresses interest, I wouldn't be opposed.

However, ever since Sarah Palin reared her ugly head, I just can't get over the new "Hockey Mom" stereotype.  I am the anti- Sarah Palin and don't want to align myself with anything she is a part of!

She's ruined it for me...  ugh.

Re: s/o Hockey Moms

  • I will do everything in my power to dissuade DS from playing hockey. And not because of Palin....I can't do the 4:30 am practices!! Oh and we don't have dental insurance Big Smile

  • If we had a boy I would have been doomed.  We are a hockey family, all the boys play, DH STILL plays in a league.  DH thinks she will do figure skating.

My nephew is 9 and my sister and BIL live in Buffalo, NY...that's all the do up there is play HOCKEY!  My poor niece just goes from rink to rink!

  • We are a total hockey family.  My dad played hockey and DH plays hockey 2 nights a week.  So I know for a fact I am going to be a hockey mom.  DH wants to get DS on ice skates as soon as he can walk.

  • You could always call yourself a "ice hockey mom"...she doesn't clarify if she is a "field hockey" or an "ice hockey" mom.  We play hockey up here, but my family is more football and rugby(if my husband has his way)
  • Honestly can't wait to be a hockey mom.  I am already a hockey wife since my DH plays 2 days a week.  He wanted to get DC skates the day he found out I was having a boy and use to joke that my unexplained bleeding while pregnant was due to the fact that he was wearing skates already (the ultra tech did not find that comment funny when he asked if he truly was wearing skates)
