We just started using our BG Elementals this week, and so far we're liking it, but I think we need to buy more if we don't want to wash daily. I have a few questions:
1) How many AIOs do you have and how often do you have to wash? We only have 12 right now, and I think it's enough to get through about a day and a half, but we'd like to be able to wash only every other day.
2) What brand of one-size AIOs do you love? I'm trying to decide whether to stick with the Elementals or branch out and try something else. (I do think we want to stick to OS diapers and AIOs to keep things as simple as possible).
3) What setting do you dry your diapers on? I was afraid too much heat would ruin them but drying on "low" takes forever. (We live in a condo so line drying isn't an option.)
TIA for any suggestions!
Re: More AIO Questions :)
line drying is really the quickest way to deal with elementals, I've found (you have to dry them sideways, to separate the layers).
My fave AIO is kissaluvs Marvels. It washes like a pocket and dries even better than most of my pockets. But it's not organic. I have about 6 of these, and 2 elementals (that I only use for diaper bag emergencies because they take so freakin' long to dry!) and then 10 BG 3.0 ones (the sized kind). I hear these last wear out because of the aplix, but so far I love them for the nanny. They are the most "disposable" like.
12 for a day and a half? How old is your child? I would say you need a stash of at least 24 to be safe.
Thanks for the recommendations!
DS is just about three months and currently EBF. I'm guessing he will go through more diapers when we introduce solids in a month or two. Is that right or is it the other way around?
I am in the process of selling off my pockets and fitteds because we do so well with the BG Elementals. We even use them at night with a knickernappies doubler and fleece liner. I have 25 and I wash every 3 days however little one is 15 months so doesn't needs changes that often.
I hang dry them for at least 24 hours (my stash allows me to do this) and then I put them in the dryer for about 20 minutes on medium to soften them up.
I don't have many AIOs because they don't make up our whole stash, but we have about 6 BG elementals right now our stash.
We love the Elementals. I've thought about bottombumpers but I don't think I'll like the side snaps and elementals work for us!
I can line dry elementals but when I dry them in the dryer I dry them on low with 4 dryer wool balls and it takes about 1 1/2 cycles.
