On Zofran and still getting sick?

Is anyone taking Zofran and still occasionally throwing up? My Zofran was upped to 8mg on Friday, and this morning I got really nauseous and threw up for the first time since Friday. I've come to terms with the idea that I may be one of those unfortunate ladies who is sick their entire pregnancy. I just wanted your ladies input on this. Thanks!

Re: On Zofran and still getting sick?

  • Yep, I've been taking 8mg a day for almost two months now. Lately I have been getting sick more and more while taking it. Everyone says, I should be getting better by this point but like you I am starting yo come to terms that I might be "one of those." I was at the doctor on Monday and he suggested that I split the tablet and take half in the morning and half later in the day since most of my sickness has been in the afternoon/evening. Hope you feel better soon.

  • Yup.  It is not nearly as bad as before I started taking Zofran, but I would say every couple of days I throw up once or twice.
  • I haven't thrown up since being on Zofran but I'm pretty much still nauseas every second of my life unless I'm eating. Which, before the Zofran I really didn't eat - bad! For a few days now I haven't even taken the Zofran though because I don't feel like it's helping me at all.. it also makes me very constipated.

  • Yup.  I've been on 8mg dissolvable tablets since right around 7 weeks and I'm still getting sick.  I don't know where I'd be without the meds though.  Despite getting sick, it's helped immensely.

  • hey all -

i'm down to 4 mg once a day right now and am doing better, but wanted to let you know that, when i first started it they told me to take 4 mg every 8 hours, so i was taking 12 mg a day and have heard of people going up to as much as 24 mg a day, so you might want to check about upping it even more....throwing up is the worst and it stinks to have to suffer through it...especially longer than the badge of honor 1st trimester!  good luck!

  • With the Zofran I throw up about 6 times a day. Without it, it's closer to about 20. So, I guess thats the best I can ask for. I can usually eat, and keep down enough fluids not to need IV's. Now, I am just marking time until this stuff passes...I gather it's supposed to be any day now, although I sometimes wonder if I will just be nauseated until I die.
  • Sorry you are still getting sick, I hope you get some relieft in the next couple weeks!

  • Thanks ladies for your insight. Everyone kept saying "wait until 12 weeks! It will get better!". Well, 12 weeks has come and gone, as has 13 weeks and now almost 14 weeks. I guess with the Zofran, I'm getting sick less often. Prior to Zofran, it was daily. I guess I can deal with that. :) Thanks again ladies.
