The name Mallory

We have been going back and forth on names for a few weeks and can't find anything we like.  Granted, we don't know if we having a boy or a girl yet (find out Monday) so it could be a waste of time, but what are you thoughts on these names

Mallory, Clara, Hannah, Ruth or Esther

Ruth and Esther are family names, and the other names are just ones we like.  We have a long Polish last name, so we try to keep names simple and easy to pronounce, we don't like anything really popular and totally hate youneek.  Open to suggestions as well!

I love the names Mallory and Clara... I would save Ruth or Esther for middle names since they are family names.

Mallory is one of my favorites, but I am pretty sure my DH will veto it ... he hears the name and thinks of Mallory Keaton and Mallory from the Amazing Race (both kind of ditsy) and can't get that image out of his head. Sad, huh?

I also really like Hannah.

Mallory is my name! I love it, it is not popular which is nice, but also not out there. I am always getting compliments on my name too!

I hope you don't take offense to what I wrote about what my husband thinks of that name. I try to tell him there are other Mallory's out there that aren't "ditsy".

Not at all, you can tell him there is at least one that is not ditsy!

My husband suggested it and then said "wait, isn't there a girl from Facts of Life?  No, Alex P Keaton, she was a Keaton!".  I do think of Babysitters Club, too but I really think the name is pretty.

The meaning is "unlucky" for those wondering, but I will tell you I am anything but unlucky, I had the perfect childhood, married my best friend, got pregnant right away, and I have an amazing well paying job. Oh and I always win radio contests!!

Mallory is my favorite. Clara is fine. The others are NMS. I REALLY don't like Ruth and Esther (but my husband loves them, so it's really just a preference). Nothing wrong with any of them.

I think of Babysitters Club too - but I always like Mallory Pike's name. :-)

Mallory is a nice name, but my favorite of your list is Clara.  I strongly dislike Ruth and Esther, but they're NMS at all.
