My first Dr's appt is tomorrow and I'm wondering what to expect. Should DH come or should I tell him not to worry about it. If all they are going to do is take my blood and give me a high five then maybe he shouldn't worry about taking off work. I'm only 5 weeks.
Re: first dr's appt?
I know my first dc's was scary for me because my boyfriend wasn't there. but I did it all on my own, paper work, blood work, i had an ultra sound, they checked the heart beat etc. and it was fine, i just had to get use to my doctor
My first appointment is tomorrow too. I am a bundle of nerves (although I'm trying to stay calm).
Hope it goes well. GL!
For my first doctors appointment my husband came with me, but ended up waiting in the waiting room the entire time. All's she did was an exam and blood work, to check your HCG levels. I thought she would do a sonogram, but she told me not until my levels where above 2500 or 3000...i forget which. I had to go back four days later to have my blood drawn again.....the next morning she called me and told me my count was 3400 and that she would do a sonogram on monday (today). I thought I was 6 1/2 weeks but we just had the sonogram and I only measured 5 weeks 4 days......so we didn't get to see the heartbeat
The lady told me you can start seeing the heartbeat at 6+ weeks!
If your nervous about going, you should ask him to come.....even though my hubby was in the waiting room...his presence was still known..and really made the difference for me

Congrats! I believe they'll probably take your blood, pee in a cup, pap and schedule an u/s for later for dating. Good luck!
Can you call and check with your doctor? When I first called to make an appointment they warned me it was going to be a long one, told me everything they were going to be doing, and said this was an appointment that the partners usually attend.
Your doctor or at least the office should have a better idea of what they typically do at a first appointment.
