I know some of you might think i am crazy, but I met a woman that she found out the sex of her baby at 13weeks (3D u/s). My husband and I thought about doing so but are unsure if it won't be acurate. I am currently 14weeks and for our u/s we only have another 4 weeks. But I am interested if anyone has found out yet?!? You know they say the same sex is always born around eachother. I guess i am getting a little impatient. Has anyone had feelings on waht they are having??? Also what has everyones heart beat has been at what weeks???

Re: Has anyone found out the sex of their baby?!?!?
I've heard of people finding out at their NT scan (usually at 12 weeks), but that is only about 80% accurate and confirmed at the anatomy scan or an elective u/s.
From what I have heard, 15 weeks is usually the earliest that you can find out at an elective u/s.
yeah i was shocked when i heard that his cousin found out -- they do live in germany so i am not sure if they have anything over here -- but yeah it would have to be an elective u/s.. now that his cousins found out i am getting more anxious!!
Most of the people I know who found out early were wrong. One girl had had her shower and everything--went home with a ton of pink stuff and at her next ultrasound, they finally found the penis. Too many times the ultrasound tech assumes not seeing a penis=girl. There's a website where you can look at ultrasounds to see the sex and it's really hard to tell that early because the penis on a boy is the same size as a clitoris on a girl unless the penis is erect.
I'd rather wait until the standard 18-20 weeks and be 100% sure.

This isn't the one I saw originally but it gets the point across:

this is the one that generally gets passed around. i wouldn't pay to have an u/s at 13 weeks to find out the sex. it's just too early IMO.

In late 1st tri/early second tri, the genitals of both sexes protrude. The only way to make a guess is on the "angle of the dangle". The tubercle of females is typically less than 30* in relation to the spine. In boys it's usually greater than 30*. They say it's not usually as obvious as it is in some of the pictures on the page, though.

There's no denying that result!
I'm not sure why you're having it done (if you posted I either missed it or have fogotten), but good luck that everything come back healthy!

I am 40 so my husband and I decided to go ahead with the testing. I have my phone basically vecroed to me waiting for the call. The genetic counselor pointed out that my odds of having a chromosomal abnormality are like 1/46 at my age. So scary! Thanks for the well wishes;)
I am anxious to know what I'm having. I found a place in San Diego that does Gender Determinationat 14 weeks by 3d US. I felt that would be too early for me, I'm currently 12w2d. I think I will wait until 16 weeks and then go to have it done, then get it confirmed at my 20 weeks US with Doc.

I read this and now am anxious for my 12 week scan on Wednesday! Im going to ask the tech to take a guess. Obviously the actual anatomy scan is the most accurate but this is a fun way to get a good idea and according to this study is pretty accurate!
