Anyone here do respite care for infants?

The nurse in my REs office suggested I look into it. Anyone have experience with respite care? My DH is active duty so it will be mostly myself looking after the infant when he is deployed.

Re: Anyone here do respite care for infants?

  • We are licensed to do respite care, but have only ever been called for long-term fostering. I think respite care is an awesome thing and wonderful gift to give to foster parents.

Being a fellow IFer, i think it would have been a good way to get my mind off of all the treatments and help the days pass faster.

  • Not yet, but we hope to.  We started that side of our paperwork/homestudy this past week.

  • We are licensed foster parents currently not accepting new placements, but we do provide respite care for other foster parents at least once a month. We're actually providing it for a 7month old until tomorrow afternoon.
