DS needs to sleep more.

He's SO crabby and whiny all the time. He goes to bed between 8-8:30 and is up for the day at 7 at the latest. He no longer naps.

If we are going anywhere, he gets in the car and passes out almost immediately-- like before we even get out of the neighborhood. With gas at $3.50 a gallon, I can't afford to drive around randomly while he sleeps. Stick out tongue

we just switched DS' bedtime to 6:30.  I know it sounds so early but he wasn't falling asleep until 8, 8:30 and it just wasn't enough.  He needs 12 hours.  This way he's out by 7. It's awesome.  Right when the whining starts around 6 we read books and it's a modern miracle :)

  • Michelle is the same way.  She falls asleep on the way to preschool (30 minutes away)  and she falls asleep on the way home.

If she would only sleep in a little!

  • We put him to bed at 7:30 last night. If we go earlier he barely sees DH all week.

He's also been crawling into bed with us almost every night. It used to be around 5:50am, which I could live with, but last night was more like 2am! He's completely ignoring the 'ok to wake' clock we have for him.

This kid is going to be the death of me.

  • Both of mine are in bed by 7 and they barely see their dad during the week but it's better for them to get the sleep that they need.  It stinks but you will find that putting them to bed earlier is better and that the time they do get to spend with their dad is more quality vs just worrying about getting in the quantity.

  • My DS is just 2 months older than yours.  When he used to nap, he went to bed at 8:30-8:45.  When he stopped napping, I figured he'd go to bed at 8pm, but after some trial and error, we figured out that 7:30 is the optimal time for him to be in bed.  He falls asleep within minutes of hitting the pillow and he sleeps till 7am.  Putting him to bed any later actually results in him getting up at the same time or even earlier.  I've also found that replacing the nap with a "rest time" in his room for 45 min - 1 hr each afternoon helps him recharge a bit and gives me a bit of a breather.  He's allowed to take one small toy and he has library books and his Tag reader for use during rest time.

Sucks but sleep comes before parent time.  It has to.  It's a freaking miserable life to be chronically exhausted.  I'm convinced that a LOT of people could come off their anti-depressants if they slept more.

  • My DS goes down at the same time yours does, but is up at 5:30 every morning. He will not nap at home (hasn't in years), but takes a 30 minute nap at school. The kid just will not sleep.

No real point here, except, I can feel your pain.
