I see the name and allI can think of is Aldous Snow from Forgetting Sarah Marshall
I know! It`s such an old man sounding name, but then it also has the association with this character. I think that's why I keep coming back to it. I love the sound of it and damn it, as if he doesn`t rock it!?! I have a major thing for the British rockstar types. I probably would shag Mick Jagger if given the chance.
I think we are officially going to see what the baby looks like, Alasdair or Aldous. Thanks ladies.
I am surprised to hear you say this. I'm not saying it's bad- just surprising is all. Maybe it's because (as I've said before) I'm so used to seeing Alasdair every day in your siggy.
You aren't kidding when you say the name sounds "old"... since it likely came from the Germanic element "ald", meaning "old" (according to BTN).
Truthfully, I actually don't think it sounds "old man" at all. I don't know of any old men with the name. Aldous Huxley was born in 1894, so I'm guessing we are in the right generation to use this name again. Of course, I don't know for sure, seeing as how it's never been in the top 1000 in the U.S.
Pronounced Al-dus? I'm not a fan. I've never seen/heard of this name before.
Married 5/31/08 * TTC#1 9/09 - 2/11 after anovulatory diagnosis and TTC for 1 1/2yrs with several medicated cycles and one chemical pregnancy, we have our first bundle of joy!

I don't take one single minute for granted.

We really struggle with boys names. We didn`t pick Archers name until days before he wa born. Actually it was probably around the same time. DH still prefers the Alistair spelling so he seems a little more open to scrapping Alasdair all together (even though it was his name suggestion). I really like them both. I also wouldn`t mind seeing if it looks more like a Cordelia as opposed to an Aurelia but DH will not budge on Aurelia.

I like it and sounds like a good sibset w/Portia & Archer! (Though, so does Alasdair!)

I can't help but think of Aldous Snow from "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Get Him To The Greek"...
This.
