After boosting my Gonal F to 225 per dose since Monday, I went in today to find my u/s still shows only 4 follies on the left - (2 med. sized and 2 good sized), and still only 1 follie on the right - good sized. ?
?
My RE is giving me the option of cxl'ing this cycle and going forward with an antagonist protocol either the very next cycle, or after a break cycle. ?
?
I'm so upset I have no idea where to start. ?This cycle my body has responded so differently compared with IVF #1 - I had great results that time, and we were supposed to be even improving on them this time with higher doses of the FSH. ?But the exact opposite has happened. ?Have I aged that much more in 6 mos.???!!?
?
DH and I are not sure if we should say "Screw it - Let's cross our fingers that every good follicle will have an egg, and that we get 100% fertilization again and go for a 3dt, OR whether we should do what the RE seems to want to do, and scrap this cycle altogether in lieu of the antagonist cycle. ?Insurance covers us, so I am leaning toward saying let's just go fwd and see what we get out of it, but I'd want to be sure it won't adversely affect my chances for next time in some way.
?
Please give me your advice gals-- what should I DO?????!!!!
?
TIA,
Katie?
Re: Follie check #2 - so upset - please help.
That's such a hard decision. I wish there was an easy answer. As far as the insurance goes--would going to a retrieval count against any further chances they would pay for? (Mine covers 4 retrievals total....so I might scrap the cycle so that I would still have more retrievals left...)
I know some girls on here have gone into retrieval with a relatively "low" number of follies and then had the doc find more that must have been hidden on ultrasound. Also--some programs aim for a small number of follies to get the best eggs--so you may have superstar eggs in those 5 follies...but there's no way to tell ahead of time, unfortunately.
Good luck in your decision--sorry I have no real advice.
Hi again,
My protocol is Lupron Day 21 with Gonal-F as the stim. ?At this point my RE is thinking the 2 smaller follies will probably not get to egg-dropping stage. ?So we're realistically talking about collecting 3, maybe 4 eggs is every follie has one. ?

Hey iluvtom - I' sorry to hear we are in the same boat-- I was thinking of you this morning and hoping you were getting better news than me!!!
?
I am leaning towards proceeding - I am not an optimist by nature but I can't see why we would not, ?unless my ins. is already counting this one b/c of the meds they paid for. ?We are covered for 6 medicated cycles, this is #2.
?
?
Well, I'm a bit of a "rule follower", so I probably would go with the advice of my RE.
Does your insurance coverage have a cycle limit or a lifetime payout cap? Most do, so I probably also wouldn't want to use that money for a cycle that isn't going as well as expected.
No $ limit from what I understand - just a cycle limit, and that does not include FET's/thaw cycles - just fresh.
?
I just spoke to my Doc, and have decided to go forward - wing and a prayer, perhaps--but...I just can't get past the idea of "what if", and need to see if any of these little eggs is a rockstar, as one of you so aptly put it.
?
Thx guys - I feel so much better, and will just keep my fingers and toes crossed this week, and next. ?

I I have insurance too and I am hopeful taht all of our follies will race to catch up and in the next few days we will be booming. My nurse just called and saidb that we still have between 6-8 dys of stims and the RE is very hopeful> So, I guess that is good news. i go back Saturday and hope to be bloated and uncomfortable with too many follies for me to handle. Good luck...I hope you make the right decision!
