Well, last night before I went to bed I went to the bathroom and noticed some bright red spotting! There wasn't that much, and when I got up several times during the night (who could sleep right) it appeared to have stopped.
This morning, when I went the the bathroom, there was some brown old blood, but nothing new. However, just now there is a little more bright red spotting on the TP when I wipe!
I know spotting during pregnancy is normal (right?) I even had this with my first pregnancy, right around this same time. It's still making me very nervous, so I have a few questions. Oh, and there is no pain or cramping along with the spotting.
1. Do you call your doctor everytime you have spotting?
2. If this is your second, or more, pregnancy...if you had spotting in one pregnancy, did you have them in all of them?
I'm just a little freaked out at the moment, and just needed to hear everyone's thoughts! Thanks!

Just to clear it up, bleeding/spotting during pregnancy is not medically NORMAL, but it is somewhat common and something like 30% of women experience some spotting during the course of an otherwise healthy pregnancy.
I think my Mayo Clinic guide says that if the spotting lasts more than a day, or is accompanied by cramping or passing of clots/tissue, to call your doctor. Otherwise, just make note of it and bring it up at your next appointment.
Honestly, I would wait it out. Your doctor is not going to be able to do anything for you, and you are probably a little too early to see a heartbeat if they were to bring you in for an ultrasound, which would probably only upset you even more and cause you more worry at this point. If it hasn't stopped by tonight, then call and see if you can schedule an appointment or early u/s for later in the week, when the heart should have started beating and you will hopefully be able to get some reassurance.

Just lurking, but I wanted to let you know that I had spotting (and some bleeding) my entire first trimester. Trust me, I was always freaked out and paranoid, but so far the baby is in perfect health
.
1. Do you call your doctor everytime you have spotting?
The first few times I did. Whenever I went in they would check for the heartbeat and look for the source of the bleeding/spotting on the ultrasound machine, but never could find the cause of it. My doctor told me it was probably from the uterus growing so big, so fast. After that they told me only to call if I soaked a pad in one hour (which wasn't really reassuring to be honest).
Hopefully this helps you feel a little better, I hope things turn out well for you. Good luck!
I've been told by my dr's office, call for any bleeding and any severe cramping. Better safe then sorry and the worst that happens is the dr. tells you not to worry and you feel better. Let the dr. tell you it's normal and fine.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers, it does ease my mind a little. The spotting has seemed to stop for the moment, so for now I am going to wait and see how the rest of the day goes.
I hate to call my doctor on a Sunday, for something that really she can do nothing about. I will call tomorrow morning first thing to tell her and see what she wants me to do.
I'll keep everyone updated....thanks again!
