Love it. I've always liked every Kate I've ever met. In my experience, they are artistic and comfortable in their own skin. It's a great strong, short name like Jane but with a tad more spunk (I guess it's the hard consonants that add the kick to it).
Love it, classic. If my best friend didn't already have a Katelyn, aka Katie, I'd want it as a name. (But they call her most often KayKay, which I am NOT a fan of).
So yes to Kate, as long as you never call her KayKay. lol.
I work with a Katherine that goes by Kate within the office. Just Thursday someone was telling her they think of her as Kate, Katherine just doesn't seem to fit.
I like it and feel just fine about it as a stand alone. However it is popular right now and likely to trend upwards with the royal wedding approaching.

I love it, but I think as a first name I'd use it as a nickname for Katherine. We used it as a stand alone middle name for our daughter because it flowed much better and if we used Katherine as a middle we'd never get to actually use the name we loved, which was Kate.
I love it!! It's such a strong, simple, beautiful name for a child or a grown woman. It doesn't even bother me as a stand-alone name, although if we used it we'd probably go with Kate as nn for Katherine. I love Katie too.
I think about 60% of people (including me) think it works just fine as a full name on its own (though many in that group prefer a longer name with Kate as the nickname). The other 30% think it needs a "formal" name.
I love Kate as a stand alone name, or like a PP said, for Kathleen, Katherine etc. It's a strong, but feminine and cute name and it's timeless in my opinion. Love it!

I love it and think it stands alone perfectly.

This name is discussed about once a week-ish.

Kate is my favorite girl name. We are expecting a little boy - but had this baby been a girl, her name would have been Kate.
