hi ladies! ive had some ups and downs this week... BW m-w-f and rhogam shot tues and then US and appt with midwife on thurs... its just so stressful but at the same time i am super optomistic that i have a growing baby inside my Drs seem to thing im progressing slowly and i just wondered if anyone has this concern or had? my betas are slowly creeping up.. initally they thought on thurs im 7 weeks but because i didnt O until CD 23 it would put me behind where they thought i was.. so roughly around 4-5 weeks... so they said my betas should be about 6,000-7,000... ok so heres a q
uick run down.. we only BD this month on 2/1/11, O'd on 2/3/11, we got our BPF on 2/14/11, BW BFP on 2/15/11 with betas at 71, then 2/28/11 ~3500, 3/2/11 ~3900, and yesterday 3/4/11 ~4200...
does anyone have slow rising betas? websites (of course not always true) say that 85% of women will double every 24-48 hrs...but since my cycles are always wacky there is a good chance im the 15% that my betas will just increase at a slower rate... thanks for the help girls!!
Re: ? about betas
The doubling rate is actually 48-72 hours, not 24-48.
The actual number is meaningless, the range is huge:
As a general rule of thumb, they are looking for a 60% rise in 48 hours, but there is wiggle room in that percentage. I'm a little confused at the timing of your draws - your doctor should have been drawing them at exactly 48 hours apart. I don't know why offices do this, it doesn't make sense to me to have so much time in between draws, and then to not educate the patient on what it all means.
Also, please note that once your betas are over 1200, which yours are, the rate of increase slows dramatically. At this point, they are really only looking to see the number go up. The doubling rule no longer applies. Again, something they really should have talked to you about.
