Husband's hospital bag...

So after receiving the news the other day that this baby could be coming any time now, Bryan and I decided it would be a good time to pack our bags.  I am really trying not to be a control freak, but his bag is staring at me and I really don't like what he has packed.  He packed all his grungiest things so he would be "comfortable."

I totally agree that he needs to be comfy since he will be there for the long haul, but I totally want to switch out his clothes with nicer ones. (He has nicer "comfy" clothes than the ones he threw in there).  I did tell him to pack one "nicer" shirt for photo opportunities, so he did, but what good is it if it's all wrinkly?  Should I just let it go?  What did your husband's pack in their bags?

  • I'm not even telling DH to pack his own bag. I'm packing one outfit for him in my hospital bag so it is an outfit of my choice (aka, matching, good for photo's and what I think he looks best in). His idea of what's matching and looking good as well as being functional/comfy is scary...

  • Clayton didnt even pack a bag with the other two bc we lived up the street from the hospital... this time around he won't be able to stay with me bc ( we have a sitter for the kids) he is a boss now, and his boss will only let him take a day or two off... however my mom is going to try to stay with me up there and since she will already have stuff packed for the trip here im not worried

  • Packing our bags this weekend! I'm sure I'll have some sort of input on what DH is bringing :)

  • My only rules are that he not be wearing his extra classy T-shirts like, "Piss Off, I Have Enough Friends" or "Which Way to the Bar?"...

Although I think "Piss Off, I Have Enough Friends" might be a nice greeting for a new baby ;-)

  • DH won't have a bag, he didn't last time either. He won't be staying at the hospital with me anyway. I don't think it even occurred to him to do this anyway.

  • Eh, it's his bag so I don't plan telling him what should or shouldn't be in there. Well except for his favorite sweats with holes everywhere, those should have been thrown in the trash years ago and are never allowed to see anything other than our apt.

  • SO & I were talking about this today. My bag has been *mostly* packed for 3 weeks now (just need LO's coming home outfit & a couple last-minute things). He looked at me like I was nuts when I asked him what he wanted me to pack for him. I don't think he realize that in a little more than a month, we'll be having a baby!

In the grand scheme of things, this is so unimportant it isn't even worth giving a thought to.  For reals.  Let him pack whatever he wants.

  • In all honesty I haven't even thought about letting my FI pack his own bag because knowing him he would forget his boxers/socks/toothbrush etc. On the other hand I wasn't going to pack something uncomfortable for him either, probably a pair of sweats and a thermal shirt, and a t-shirt or something else he can sleep in if need be.
  • Honestly, my husband's an adult so I don't feel like I need to tell him what to wear. I would smack him if he told ME what to wear. When I'm in labor and recovering I'm sure the last thing I'll care about is what he has on. Then again, my husband would never think about wearing something inappropriate in public (clothes with giant holes, raunchy profane type shirts, etc.)
