AMAZING visit with midwife

Hi everyone, we are a little over 5 weeks along, and met with a midwife who specializes in home water births. What an amazing experience. She talked with us for an hour and a half, just letting us ask questions, and requiring nothing in return. She made my nervous husband feel 100 times better, he said she was kind of like a new-daddy therapist. We love her. We are going for home water birth. 

 I have my first appointment with a traditional doctor scheduled for the 17th. I am tempted to cancel, because I know I want to work with the midwife, but I also want to go in so I have the chance to see/hear the heartbeat (I will be at 7.5 weeks). 

 So excited!

That is great to hear! I am expecting my fourth baby and am planning a home water birth as well. I have been going back and forth about seeing both my midwife and Dr as a backup in case of complications.. I have my first Dr appt scheduled next week and see my midwife at the end of the month.

Im like you I wanna see that first ultrasound too!!

That sounds awesome!  We're looking at a water birth in a birth center.  I thought about a home birth but we're in a rental and if anything happened to damage the property with massive water leaks or something we'd be in ... deep water, haha.  I believe the midwife at the birth center offers the option to have the ultrasounds, maybe you're would too?

I am equally enamoured with my midwife! Where I am in Canada midwives have access to and provide the same amount of diagnostic testing (e.g. ultrasounds) as do Doctors, and are such a great option for healthy women with healthy pregnancies!

My midwife does ultrasounds, but just not as early. I'm impatient!
