Re: Anyone pregnant after a preemie??

  • Me! mrsmikey is here, too, she'll probably post in this thread (you here, mikey?!). I see you don't have too many posts, so if you haven't noticed yet, there is a Preemie board. There are quite a few of us who are pg again, and we have a check-in every Wednesday for people who are pg/TTC after preemie.

I can totally relate - I'm trying really, REALLY hard to be calm, because I know stressing won't make things any better. I'm going to have some increased monitoring, and I'm planning to take Vitamin C to help build a stronger amniotic sac (my DD was born early due to pPROM). I'm also planning to speak up more often when I have concerns...I had a hard time making my kick counts with DD even at the end, and I was having very frequent Braxton Hicks contractions in the 2nd tri. I should have pushed more about those, but since I really didn't have any other indications of problems, plus I had an anterior placenta, I just didn't know I should. It sounds like you'd be a good candidate for 17P shots, which can decrease your risk of another preemie by 34%. I hope meeting with your peri helps calm you!

  • Me. I also had my daughter at 34 weeks I got to see her for 2 minutes before they transferred her an hour away from my hospital. Then I ended up having emergency surgery for a aneurysm on my spleen and had to be in the hospital for a week and she did as well so I got to meet her when she was one week old. I am scared but really hopefully that this goes more smoothly. I hope yours does too. I got this ring from my hubby that says "be happy" it really helps. GL!

  • My babies were born at 34 weeks as well and I didn't get to see them at all before they were transfered to the NICU. My doctor says there is no way to know whether my issues with PTL were because they were twins or for some other reasons. She said there is a lot of research suggesting that progesterone supplementation in the second and third trimesters can help prevent repeat incidents of PTL so I will start the supplements beginning at 15 weeks. Maybe that is something you could talk to your peri about?

  • Well its nice to know Im not alone! I am getting the p17 shot starting soon. Then I am going to start parttime bedrest at 20-25 weeks. But we will see. I also am not working out. I was told to lay low and rest a lot till i meet my peri.
